Last but not least we went to the Rum Doodle Bar – its where those who have climbed Everest come for a free meal to celebrate their climb. Sadly, it was closed because of the earthquake and is forced to vacate the building with its future location unknown. It was made famous when Sir Edmund Hilary when he went there in 1953 after his summit and he signed the wall. The walls are covered by signatures of those who have summited any of Nepal’s famous peaks. There were a few guys there and they let us sit at the bar and have a drink. They told us their stories of Everest. Hopefully they can reopen again.
And we are off to the airport and will hope to be home in 24 hours. So long Nepal!
