bikelogo

Alex is doing a ride to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis at the end of next month. The ride takes place back in Utah, up in the Cache Valley around Logan. It will be good for us to get back there and it is a good opportunity for Alex to get back into fitness on the bike.

As a birthday present, we got Alex a new bike yesterday, so she took it out for a lap of the lake in the afternoon –

Follow her on Strava to see her improve over the next few weeks. She’ll start off pretty easy, but as anyone who has ever rode with her knows, she will soon be pulling away from you. (especially on the flats – I still think I can beat her uphill)

As she is raising money from donations for this ride, we encourage you to visit Donate here! and make a donation. She has a birthday coming up…

Why did we choose the name Sienna?

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

While in between contractions we passed the time making some silly videos. Here I am trying to explain why we chose the name Sienna Belle. We thought long and hard about this one. There were a few contenders but this name seemed to fit the best.

Four on the couch

Sunday, April 28th, 2013

Page and I picked up Alex and Sienna from hospital at lunchtime yesterday and brought them back to the nest.

Sienna is very well behaved little girl. Even when her big sister pulls her hair. “Gently Page”

After some baked salmon we all sat on the couch together to watch Hunger Games.

11:43pm Alex is in great spirits.

11:42pm She doesn’t look like Page much. A little dark hair.

11:41pm She is 51cm, 3.45kg (7lbs 10oz, 20 inches)

11:29pm Welcome to the world, Sienna Belle!

11:26pm Alex says “Fuck”

10:55 10/10 centimetres! We are about to deliver. Alex is feeling very shivery. Which is good and normal.

9:45pm This could take a while. The nurse just made me up a bed.

9:20pm Alex’s left foot is colder so the anesthesiologist has given her some medicine which he assures her will work more quicklier.

9:05pm 4cm and getting some more sweet relief from Heinrich the man from Dutch’s protege.

8:12pm A nurse comes in and rests the machine. This is boring.

8:10pm A machine is beeping at us. It’s getting irritating.

7:05pm This man takes pain from a 6 to a 1! I have been replaced.

39 week bump

Sunday, April 21st, 2013

The day before Alex gave birth to Page, I dragged her off the couch for a hike on the Toyon Trail in the Portola Valley hills. One of my favourite photos is from that hike with Alex grinning as she crosses one of the trail’s bridges.

Today, after Alex picked up her delinquent husband from the airport we hiked to the same bridge to see whether we could get the baby moving.

Will the full moon dictate our new birth date? Or will it be the Toyon trail hike? Don’t run away!

Passing the time…

Friday, April 19th, 2013

We have one week left! I hope. I am done, dunzo, finished. Never again, right?! I am feeling pretty worn out, it feels like it is going to happen soon…

I have been trying to cherish the moments I have when its just me and Page. I feel bad as she has so much energy and all I can do is waddle behind her. I am looking forward to running, biking, and dancing again with her soon. I miss being active!

In the meantime we have been busy playing in the park, getting pedicures, going to the dentist, window shopping, painting pottery and eating Fro-yo!

Aptos Saturday and 35 week bump

Sunday, March 24th, 2013

It’s getting harder to move around. If I had my way I would be horizontal all day long. This baby has some serious strong kicks. But I am trying to not be a complete sloth so Brendan’s job is to motivate me to get out and get moving. Saturday we drove down to Aptos and met some friends at Burger. There is nothing like a good burger to motivate me these days! Afterwards we took the kiddos for a sunset walk down at the beach.

We are down to the last month, YAY! We have almost everything in place at home. We just have to dust off a few things, strollers, car seats. etc. Page has grown up so quickly, we are excited to report that we have reached two major milestones. She is now potty trained and she is sleeping in her own bed ALL NIGHT! We still struggle trying to get her to sleep. She is the master of procrastinating and it still could take up to two hours before she actually drifts off. But its a step in the right direction and just in time!
