Meegan & Bobby’s Wedding Weekend

Sunday, August 5th, 2012

The three of us had a lovely 4 day weekend and got to explore Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley. My dear friend from college in Durango, Meegan, got married to the equally as awesome Bobby. Page was the flower girl in the wedding. Thursday we arrived at the wedding location, Sunstone Winery and attended the rehearsal.

Page Alina happy as can be getting ready for the wedding rehearsal

The beautiful couple Meegan and Bobby

Dad looking extremely cute as usual

Joanne, Meegan’s Mom, made Page’s flower girl dress out of her own wedding dress. Her wedding dress was made by her Mom. It was really cool to see the generations come together and we were extremely proud that they chose Page to wear the dress.

Back of the dress, oh soooooo beautiful!

On Friday we ventured off to Santa Barbara. I have many fond moments of this place as it is where I would meet my Dad and brothers Cris and Cole every year for Thanksgiving. It was so fun to bring Page and Brendan here. Page loved the beach!

We made it back to Santa Ynez for dinner and dancing at the Firestone Vineyard.

Freckles!

The sunset was amazing!

Dad suggested ice cream when we got back to the hotel, the perfect solution to a good nights rest before the wedding!

Pep talk #1

The handsome groom, not nervous at all!

My beautiful little flower girl, a little nervous, I suspect…

Come on Dad, let’s be silly!

Princess 100%

The stunning bride

Mom walking Page down the aisle, it went well until this moment when she saw 100 eyes looking back at her. At that moment, Page said “Mama, Hugs!” and I carried her down the aisle…

Phew…

The best moment…

Mid West

Saturday, July 7th, 2012

We traveled over to the Mid West for an Ippolite family reunion over a long weekend.

Page continued her love affair with German sports cars.

If you think about Wisconsin, you think about cheese. And if you think about Wisconsin and cheese, you think about cheese curds. And the best cheese curds are at the Mars Cheese Castle! Squeak Squeak!

The reunion itself was over two days at cousin Kim’s house in Winnetka on Chicago’s North Shore.

For our enjoyment they had basketball, hockey, baseball, and a Bocce court in the backyard. Alex, of course, is a future pro Bocce player, as once again she killed all-comers in a sport that she had never played before.

To give us the energy for all those sports, on Sunday we were all treated to hand-rolled Porchetta as well as tonnes of other yummies from the kitchen. All washed down with plenty of craft beer, wine and aperitifs.

Kim’s house is not far from the beaches of Lake Michigan. At the beach, the California girl forgot her place, got naked and offended the sensibilities of Amerika’s moral heartland.

Happy Anniversary Brendan!

A year ago we were in snowy Tahoe getting hitched. What a year it has been. Thanks for making me the luckiest and happiest lady on the planet! xoxo

This year we ventured to Point Reyes beach, ate at our favorite oyster bar in Tomales Bay, and met some friends at our favorite pub in Mill Valley.

Aldo Caldo, our barman/waiter/concierge at the house organised a boat trip down the coast to a few beaches that are not accessible by road with his cousin, Chato. Chato was a bit busy on the day, so he lent his boat to his friend Pedro. Pedro gave us a great fun guided tour all the way to Yalapa (and back!)

My wife’s smile is beautiful in the morning sun (and all other suns).

Page practicing to be a Patagonia model.

Pedro first took us to the Los Arcos, just north of Mismaloya for some snorkeling. The girls and I jumped in. It was a bit cold for the younger girls, so they got out, but not before seeing some of the hundreds of purple and orange Angel Fish that we attracted. Alex and I relived our Barrier Reef adventure and saw even more fish on the reefs and against the rocky islands.

It was fancy dress on the boat, and I came as a Gringo!

When we arrived at Yalapa, the girls posed with the resident iguana. Page tried to poke its eyes out, but the other two girls were sweet to the poor reptile.

Pedro joined us for lunch on the beach at Yalapa.

There was a vicious beach break that Annie and I got the better of, and which filled us with sand.

Ah… Mexico Part 3

I rented a Jeep and drove the girls down the coast to the Zoológico de Vallarta.

From memory, we saw Antelopes, Zebras, Ostriches, Emus, Snakes, Pumas, Mountain Lions, Shetland Ponies, Rabbits, Spider Monkeys, Baboons, Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Giraffes, Toucans, Eagles, Flamingos, Hippopotamuses, Tejónes, Capybaras, Aligators, Llamas, Jaguarundi, Ducks, Geese, Swans, Sheep, Leopards, Raccoons, Pigs, Bears, Goats, Parrots, and Camels.

Page’s favourites? The Shetland Ponies and the Jaguarundi. I think the girls were craziest about the Monkeys and the Tigers.

This last Gaga is a Tejón. That’s what all the screaming was about …

Weekend w/ Grandpa Jim!

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Page and I flew to Milwaukee to spend the weekend with Grandpa Jim and Grandma Lori. It was an action packed weekend. We went to the zoo and saw sleeping monkeys and lions, visited the Discovery Museum and pushed lots of buttons, and had a birthday party for Great-Grandma Danni with all our cousins on Lori’s side. And, Page learned a new word “Shopping”. Grandpa Jim spoiled her with a couple trips to the mall!
