Page has worn a tutu to school everyday this week. She has a school tutu, a home tutu and a dance class tutu. When we get home from school she will dance for as long as we will let her. Twirling and twirling, trying to mimic the mouse Angelina Ballerina from her favorite Netflix show. Thursday’s don’t come soon enough, its dance class day and she gets to wear the REAL tutu. After class today we are going shopping for some clothes for the new baby and of course, we HAVE to get the new baby a tutu!
Tomorrow is the Valentine’s Day party at Page’s school so we thought we would do something fun for her friends. We got a little carried away and decided to make “Love Bugs” for her class. Each little jar has a fun little bug inside. Holy Martha Stewart Day! Page and I are covered in glue and hearts, but we had fun. She is such a great little helper!
Its official, Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are now Mom and Page days where the two of us to get to explore all the fun stuff the Bay Area has to offer. I only have two more months of just having Page so it should be fun to find what activities we can dig up.
Thursday’s are dance class days. She just LOVES to wear tutu’s, we are still waiting on tights and her shoes to come, but we borrowed some from the dance school. She is in the 2.5 – 3.5 year old old Tap/Ballet class. She is the smallest, we had to sneak her in as the cutoff was to be 2.5 by last Oct., ooops!
I laughed for 30 minutes straight and met some other cool local Mom’s while there. Good stuff!
For Brendan’s Birthday we decided to have a “Day Date”. We dropped the monkey off at school and split to the City. We had a fabulous breakfast at Tartine Cafe in the Mission.
We then ventured off to Lands End and took a lovely hike to Ocean Beach.
And time for the 18 week bump pic! I am feeling BIG! Also a nice pic of the birthday boy looking as charming as ever… Last stop was to the WaterBar for oysters! We left the City by 4 and made it back to school to pick up the little one. Its nice to spend the day away for ourselves, but we sure missed her!
Brendan and I attended an art show and had a few moments before we took Page to Tata’s to explore the grounds. I think Page is ready for soccer classes!
Alex’s Palo Alto Festival is in full swing right now, and while we’ll certainly have a bigger post to wrap it up, here is a little update.
We took Page to her first real cinema experience yesterday. The film was Adventures in Zambezia in 3D, an animation from South Africa with voices by Abigail Breslin and Samuel L Jackson. Alex introduced the film and hosted the Q&A and even managed to squeeze in a joke at my expense…
With the 3D came the 3D glasses –
Our resident hipster said “Wow!” about a hundred times in the 15 minutes that she watched before getting fidgety.
Did you know that owl’s have three eyelids? No? Page does.
One of the innovations at this year’s festival is a real time interactive quiz as a prelude to each of the films. It’s a great way to get the audience involved while they are waiting and I’m pretty sure you’ll see more of it. As for the owls, I had no idea of the answer to that question in the quiz, so I asked Page. Props!
Other highlights so far include one of the Oscar winners that Alex keeps in her back pocket making this for the 30th anniversary outdoor screening of ET (“Teapot” according to Page)
